About Nyerere National Park

Nyerere National park which was earlier known as the Selous Game reserve is Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary.The name of the Park has been given in the honour of the founder of the Nation, the Late Mwalimu Julius KambarageNyerere. The Park was here established in year 2019 and covers an area of over 30,000 square kilometres. With its largest wilderness area in Africa, Nyerere National park has relatively undisturbed ecological and biological processes, including diverse range of wildlife with significant predator and prey relationship.

Located 230km and 300km from Tanzania’s commercial city of Dar es Salaam and is a five-six hour drive.Visitors can easily enter the park through Matemere gate, through Morogoro using the Matembwe Gate, which is close to Kisaki, a small town with various amenities.The Nyerere National Park Locationis close to many infrastructures and transport facilities and is becoming an important part of the Tanzania Safari Tours.
