Gombe National Park

Gombe Stream National Park is a home to world famous Chimpanzee reserve; it has 100+ chimpanzees which are well habituated.

There are plenty of Baboons around, but the focal point of gombe is the chimpanzee family that live protected in the parks boundaries. Besides chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe stream National Park, they include; Vervet and Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, small antelopes, wide variety of tropical birdlife and many more.

The main attraction of Gombe National Park is :

  • Guided walks to deep forest and sit with extraordinary primates for entire morning.

  • Listen to the pant-hoot from the deep forest.

Chimpanzees share about 98% genes with humans and no scientific expertise is required to distinguish between the individual repertories of pants, hoots and screams that define the celebrities, the powerbrokers and the supporting characters.

  • Hiking: You can go for a short hike early in the morning and get a chance to meet the chimps and spend time during the first half.

How to get to Gombe National Park :

Kigoma is connected to Dar es Salaam and Arusha by scheduled flights, to Dar es Salaam and Mwanza by slow rail service. You can also reach to Dar es Salaam and Mbeya by rough roads and to Mpulugu by a weekly ferry.

You can also reach here through the charter boats which take around an hour to reach.
