Mikumi National Park is one of the largest national parks and most accessible park. Here you can witness year around wildlife sightings, Mikumi is a safari destination for those who have less time.<\/p>\n
Between the Uluguru mountains to the northeast, the Rubelo mountains to the northwest and Lumango Mountains to the southeast \u2013 Mikumi hosts buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards, crocodiles and more, and chances are that you will see a respectable sampling of these within a short time of entering the park.<\/p>\n
The main attractions of Mikumi National Park are :<\/strong><\/p>\n The most reliable wildlife watching is around the mkaka floodplain, to the northwest of the main road, with the open vistas of the small but lovely Millennium area a highlight.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n This area is especially good for spotting buffaloes \u2013 often quite near the roadside \u2013 as well as giraffes, elephants and zebras.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n The Hippo pools, just northwest of the main gate, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n You can also do some fine birding.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Mikumi is an important educational and research centre. Among the various projects carried out is an ongoing field study of yellow baboons, which is one of just a handful of such long-term primate studies on the continent.<\/p>\n It has an easy access; rewarding year around wildlife watching and birding. You can also see Giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, honey badgers and many more.<\/p>\n Wildlife viewing in Mikumi is fine throughout the year, but the best time is from late June to October which is the dry season.
