It is a home to largest population of Elephants and also shares space with large herds of buffalos, grant gazelles, wild dogs, ostriches, cheetahs, antelopes and 400 species of birds.<\/p>\n<p>The vegetation in Ruaha National Park consists of clumps of palms and patches of open grassland; in the north there are scattered baobab trees and scrubby woodland. It has a striking topography on the heart of park Ruaha River.<\/p>\n<h4>Highlights :<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>It is the largest park in Tanzania.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The park has two air-strips; Msembe and Jongomeru airstrip<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>It has the remaining 10% population of Lions in the planet.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hippos, Crocodiles and Otters can be found in the Banks of River Ruaha<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>It has the great wilderness with high concentration of animals and birds<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Guided walking Safari<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Exclusive and less crowded<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Activities in Ruaha National Park : <\/h4>\n<h6>Bird Watching :<\/h6>\n<p>With more than 571 bird species Ruaha National Park is one of the best spot to watch colourful birds. The variety of birds you can spot include: Crested barbet, Dickinson\u2019s kestrel, Pale-billed hornbill, Violet-crested turaco, Racket-tailed roller, Plovers, Kingfishers, Hornbills and many more.<\/p>\n<h6>Game Drive :<\/h6>\n<p>Ruaha National Park offers an excellent game drive with guaranteed wildlife spotting like, pride of lions and other mammals.<\/p>\n<h6>Walking safari : <\/h6>\n<p> The Park also offers an outstanding walking Safari which is unique.<\/p>\n<h6>Cultural Tours : <\/h6>\n<p>You can visit nearby Maasai\u2019s and have a look about their culture and heritage.<\/p>\n<h4>Why to go : <\/h4>\n<p>You can visit Ruaha National park for; outstanding dry season wildlife watching, especially elephants, hippos, lions and wild dogs; excellent birding; rugged scenery.<\/p>\n<h4>When to go :<\/h4>\n<p>The driest season is between June and November, and this is when it\u2019s easiest to spot wildlife along the river beds. During the rainy season some areas become impassable and wildlife is difficult to locate, but green panoramas, lavender-coloured flowers and rewarding birding compensate.<\/p>\n<h4>How to get to Ruaha National Park : <\/h4>\n<p><strong>By Air : <\/strong>There are 2 Air strips in the park, you can take a flight from Dar es Salaam and that would take 2 and half an hour to reach. The main air strip is at Msembe beside the headquarters while the other one is at Jongemero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By road : \u00a0<\/strong>The Park is 120km from the nearest town Iringa and the road is well maintained and graded. It just takes 2 hours to reach there.
